directed by Chris Smith
with both Robert Downeys, Jr. and Sr.
Available on Netflix
Robert Downey, Sr. is well known for his movies that were made in the 60s and 70s, and took shots at society in satire so original and strange they made you think. They reflected the zeitgeist, when rebellions against convention were taking place, and Andy Warhol had a factory to make deliberately avant garde movies.
His famous son, Robert Downey, Jr., began acting in those movies when he was a child, and now he has produced a film that shows his father for who he was: ingenious, destructive, loving, productive, addicted to drugs, capable of starting over, always thinking. The movie is an act of devotion and love. Jr. does not always have the right instincts for every scene in this film, but it is clear what his intention is, and he achieves it, with the help of the director, Chris Smith.
